Glass: Glassworks (LP)
Now a household name in the world of music and film scores, it’s difficult to imagine a world without Philip Glass’s seminal
album Glassworks. Release in 1982, it was Glass’s attempt to create a more pop-oriented “Walkman-suitable” work, with
considerably shorter and more accessible pieces written for the recording studio. In fact, the cover of the cassette release
stated that it was “specifically mixed for your personal cassette player”. With only six pieces, and none of them longer than
10 minutes each, Glassworks became a true success in the genre of classical cross-over.
